My Students

My students are so excited to return to school and get back to having hands-on STEAM experiences in our Innovation Lab. We will delve into 3D printing, robotics, and programming, as well as many other hands-on projects. It is so fun to watch their faces light up when they see the results of their own creations.

The students are curious and creative, imaginative, and innovative.

I love hearing their new ideas. We are a diverse school with many cultures and languages, and STEAM experiences are great at bringing everyone together for a common goal.

My Project

This year has been such an odd year for my students. Whether learning at home, or learning at school, it has not been a "normal" year. My goal this year has been to try to provide opportunities for hands-on learning whenever possible. The Briks baseplates are needed to go with our already assembled individual LEGO kits so that the students can create LEGO projects. The voice amplifier will be used by the students to help them share and describe their creations to the other students. Trying to speak loudly behind both a mask and a desk partition is so hard, and the voice amplifier will help them feel heard and valued by their classmates.

With so many rules, 6 feet apart, masks, and no sharing or group work, having the ability to be creative and design something that you can still show to your classmates from afar is a great opportunity for their social and emotional development.

These building bricks projects will be used with the students to help them showcase their creativity, and most importantly will be used when they need to take a break from the strictness of the school rules this year.
