Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Our school supports a growing community of ambitious learners from the South Bronx. Most of the students at this school live in low income housing and/or non-permanent apartments. The previous school was a failing school, before this school opened in 2013. Since opening, decreased violent behaviors has put learning at the forefront of the school day.

Students come to school feeling safe, supported and ready to learn.

Our school serves students in grades K-5 and provides rigorous academics, fantastic teachers and a safe learning environment. As a result, we are consistently one of the top-performing schools in our district. Our goal is to prepare our students for success in high school and college, and beyond. While our students continue to grow academically, our teachers and students are limited by the resources available.

My Project

Teachers will be using the poster maker to create visually appealing graphics and materials for various lessons throughout the school year. Posters are used continuously in classrooms, as anchor charts, collaborative workspaces, and visual aids for all students. During many units of study, students use posters around the room as resources to help guide and supplement their learning. It is apparent in every classroom that these posters are an integral part in the students' learning process.

This project would significantly help teachers prepare materials for maximum student growth.

Our learning will grow tremendously with the addition of this poster maker to our school supplies.
