Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

New Year New Look. Throughout my years of teaching Prekindergarten I have seen how environment can change a Childs experience in the classroom and cognitive development. Colors impact human behavior and have a significant impact on maintaining focus and retaining information, that will allow for a smooth transition from home to the classroom. I would like my classroom to exude excitement, joy and peace from my students once they step foot into their new environment for the year.

Materials requested like bulletin board paper, die cuts and borders will help me transform my room into a bright and vibrant environment where students will feel excitement and joy.

In prekindergarten, children are expected to demonstrate increasing awareness and competence. Your help in this project would allow me to teach our state common core standards. For example under “Domain 5: Cognition and Knowledge of the World” there a few common core goals for prekindergarten in which being exposed to colors and being able to identify them throughout the classroom through visual display colors will actually fulfill those standards. For example. “Experiments with a variety of mediums and methods of using art materials (such as using a big brush to paint broad strokes, combining colors, etc.)” Another standard would be “Shows an interest in what can be created with tools, texture, color and technique. The above common core standards can be full filled by the materials requested. Color exposure and understanding is my goal. And being able to illuminate my classroom with colors will lead students to explore what they see visually which will come through in their drawings and their ability to be able to verbally and visually identify colors.
