Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

The students in my class have a learning disability which does not hinder them from performing and learning the materials being taught. They feel inspired, determined, and always ready for a new and engaging challenge. These students are very cooperative, respectful and willing to improve their academic achievement. Even though some may not have the best penmanship or the greatest reading ability, they still put forth maximum effort in order to succeed. These students are primarily from homes where English is a second language so they have to overcome that language barrier.

My students are not as fortunate as others.

Sometimes they come to school without the necessary materials and supplies needed to begin working because they cannot afford to purchase these things. My school demographic population is comprised of 97.6% Hispanic students, and 98.8% of our students receive free or reduced-price lunch.

For this project my focus is my Career and Development class for students with Disabilities. We lack the technology needed within the classroom to conduct their research and complete the required assignments.

My Project

These laptops will impact the way my students learn by enhancing their learning experience and creating new opportunities for them to access information.

Without these laptops, my students will have a difficult time conducting the necessary research required for this course, due to them not having the technology at home.

By the end of this course with the aid of these technology my students will be able to identify the functions of web browsers, and use them to access the World Wide Web along with other computer resources. They will also demonstrate ways to communicate effectively using internet technology.

Having these resources will give my students a sense of responsibility while allowing them to take ownership in the quality of work being produce.

A portion of this course requires the students to develop keyboarding skills to enter and manipulate text and data. They are also responsible for utilizing presentation software to communicate ideas to a group. These supplies will make the process much easier for them to reach the required objectives.
