My Students

We are the Kindergarten Hummingbird Charm! Each day we explore the world of learning in and out of the classroom. The Hummingbird learners work hard to build a community of trust, cooperation, and an appreciation for our unique talents. Every Hummingbird strives to take our daily adventures in learning and transform them into real world application.

The Kindergarten Hummingbirds bring schema and wonder into our classroom and exude excitement for learning!

Through expeditions, STEM activities, reading, writing, math, and social studies the Hummingbirds thrive in an engaging environment! They love to learn and as one of my Hummingbirds said, "I don't want to go home. There is so much to learn!"

My Project

Research has shown that there is a correlation between lighting in a classroom and student performance both academically and behaviorally. In our classroom, we currently have the standard fluorescent bulbs and lighting which can cause headaches, eye strain, increased anxiety, and a plethora of issues that can distract from learning. When we use natural lighting or decrease the amount of lights by turning off half of the lights in the room the students energy level exhumes a sense of focus and calmness. With the use of fluorescent light filters, I can use a combination of filtered light and natural light instead of limiting the use of lighting in our class. This will help not only the overall mood of the classroom but will limit the exposure to unnecessary damaging light.
