This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

My name is Danielle Finnerty. I am currently living and working in Brooklyn, New York. I have had much time to reflect on my own self practices, my goals, and my motives.

I know it is extremely cliché to say but my main goal is to make a difference in the lives of my students.

Change their thought process, change their perception on education, and motivate them to be better, to do better, and to strive for more. There are many teachers I have encountered throughout my educational career. Teachers that truly have made a difference in my eyes. I want to be one of those teachers that is always remembered. One who can create real world connections and connect with student interests.

Creating a classroom that is student centered is so important and ultimately can affect the process of their learning. The purpose of education is to strive and push students to do better, make them better citizens and ready to go out into the world making good decisions. It is important that we allow our students to feel empowered, feel like they have a voice, and not be afraid to get involved in decision-making.
