Our PreK family, like so many others, was separated abruptly and without warning due to the pandemic. Our students went home on an ordinary Friday. They didn’t have their books or crayons. They didn’t get those last hugs from the teachers who cherish them and guide their learning. They don’t understand why they can’t be in the safety of their classroom with their peers. They don’t understand why they don’t have access to the tools they enjoyed using daily. They now receive instruction remotely through our Google classroom. I would love to offer them the supplies/materials they need to learn the way they were accustomed to...hands on.
My Project
My students loved nothing more than sitting in the art center and using our many different tools to draw/color/paint a picture. The sense of pride they felt when they handed me their finished paper was like no other. The smile on their faces when they see these materials delivered to their homes would be brighter than the crayons/chalk/paint! They have been struggling to print out worksheets to practice readiness skills. These workbooks will give them all access right at their fingertips and in one place. They will feel some of the familiarity and comfort they felt using these materials in our classroom.
