My Students

In First Grade we spend one half of every day on the rug. We start out our day with our morning meeting on the rug. We start every new lesson on the rug. We read with our class, our neighbor and our teacher on the rug. We play math games and work with math manipulatives on the rug.

I work in a lovely, small neighborhood school.

There are only 500 students from many various ethnic and financial backgrounds. Many of our students are on free or reduced lunch. We are lucky to be located near a State College, so we get many college students to come and work with our students. We spend over half of our day on the rug and would love a new, clean, beautiful rug!

My Project

We currently have a rug in our classroom, but it is quite old and stained after many years of use. The children are very good about transitioning from their desks to the rug. I would love for them to have a new, clean beautiful rug to help the transitions even easier and more comfortable for my students.

The students in Room 5 will have a lovely, new carpet to welcome them to a new school year.

They will take pride in their new classroom. They will be very comfortable while spending half of their day on a new rug.
