My students come from all over the world, from different families and financial backgrounds, but they have one thing in common. They all LOVE learning! Our school is at the edge of a rural city a block from the beach, and it serves a diverse group of children from 23 different countries. Of my 16 students, three receive special education services, 12 are English Language Learners, and 57% receive free or reduced price lunch.
My class is a vibrant group of learners who are excited by project-based learning activities, love to create, explore, and manipulate, and love to share their learning with others.
They are engineers, architects, problem-solvers, team players, makers, creators, and hands-on learners. They are energetic, silly, and extremely active children who love to get up and move. They make me excited to come to work each day!
My Project
At our Title I school, many of my students come to school without the supplies needed to be successful because their families cannot afford them. No child should ever have to worry about having the right supplies. That's why I am looking for support to stock my class with exciting class sets of Crayola markers, crayons, and colored pencils!
Children love having sharp bright tools to work with and are excited and motivated whenever they get to use different colorful tools to express themselves and their learning!
In my classroom, I teach using color to differentiate and highlight key words or content. I use colored paper to excite my students about different tasks and also to differentiate tasks for my many different learners. In my class, my students also learn, manipulate, and create in color. My Makerspace will be filled with the Astrobright paper for students to use if they choose, the pipe cleaners to manipulate and create with, and the classpacks of Crayola tools will always be available for anyone anytime.
