Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are between the ages of seven and ten. They have a been diagnosed with Down Syndrome, Autism, Speech Impairment, Developmental Delays and more. Most of my students are non-verbal and need to work in communication. Even though they might have the same diagnostic, they each have unique disabilities. I have 6 amazing students, they were all in my class last year.

Life skills students typically remain in the same Life Skills Unit through all their elementary years

My students would greatly benefit from color symbols to follow schedules, mini schedules and use communication boards.

My Project

The use of schedules and mini-schedules is a must for our Life Skills class. The students need to know what will they be doing every day in detail.

A color printer and laminator machine would help my students follow a colorful, bright motivating schedule.

My students need to feel safe and secure about their daily routines or get ready for changes in a visual and clear way.

Some of my students have autism, some are non-verbal, some have cerebral palsy, and knowing what they will be doing during the day make a big difference for them.

It is important for my students to be able to follow the steps of any given activity, a colorful guide would be wonderful for them!
