Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

We are a neighborhood school with many families living within 2 miles. My students are a joy to teach. We are a Title I school, and the boys and girls represent a diverse population. All the students enjoy library class once per week. I do a variety of activities with my students and always want to incorporate more. Literacy and technology are our primary focus in the library, and students get so excited to learn new things in different and unique ways.

The majority of my students do not speak English at home.

They are all enrolled in our English Language Learners program. Even though they are learning a new language, they work hard and enjoy learning new things in different ways. The students enjoyed reviewing our literature collection each week. They get super excited to create their own illustrations from the story.

My Project

I teach Pre-K to 5th grade in a high poverty, inner city school district. Our school has a nice library that the students love to visit. We devote time during our library visits to participate in hands-on learning learning. We focus on literacy and research during our library time.

My students need bright and colorful paper for their illustrations and story boards.

White paper is boring. Bright and colorful paper would allow the students to cut out visuals to go with their projects and enhance their learning using our Cricut. Students would use the Cricut to cut out a variety of titles, shapes, and elements to go with the story they are presenting for their storyboards, and a variety of visuals to support their research. This colorful paper would make the student’s storyboards and research projects more inviting for visual learners. Please help me give my students bright and colorful paper would enhance their learning during our library time. They love doing illustrations during their library visits and this would add to our library experience.
