My Students

My elementary music students are talented, excited, and motivated by the arts! They love music, art, and drama, and are particularly excited by the new music room and art room at our school. We have a huge student body with approximately twelve hundred kids. I teach students in pre-kindergarten through grade five, general education students, language learners, and many special education students. Families at our school come from many countries, including Bangladesh, Dominican Republic, Ghana, Mexico, China, India, and more. Each individual student has something special to offer as far as culture and background. It is pretty amazing!

My Project

We are SO EXCITED to be producing our second school musical this year! Our school team of teachers works together with approximately 60 students as part of the cast and crew, and many more students working on sets, advertising, etc. Our teacher team is made up of classroom teachers, arts teachers, and other supportive staff (physical education, ENL) who all work together to make the production experience a positive, memorable, and enjoyable learning experience for everyone, especially our amazing 5th grade students!

This project will help give life to the visual aspect of the theater- it includes bright colors, shiny gold coins, and eye-catching, traditional, realistic costumes for the actors and actresses.

We have chosen the musical, "Aladdin," as this year's show! This project will help dress the students who play the parts of Jasmine, Genie, Sultan, Iago, men in the marketplace, and women in the marketplace/castle.

We are hoping that this project is funded so that we can spend more time on the drama, music, and choreography, and less time worrying about dressing the cast. These BEAUTIFUL costumes would be an amazing gift for our school for this musical and for musicals in the future. Thank you for your consideration for making our dreams come true!
