My Students

I am lucky that I teach an amazing group of fifth grade students that are eager to learn mathematics! They have been giving it their all each and every day while learning remotely this school year.

Many of my students are coming from low-income households or are English language learner students.

Coming from a low-income household should not be an excuse for these students to not be successful in school and they deserve all the wonderful tools to help them be successful in math.

My Project

The 2020-2021 school year has presented students with so many challenges when it comes to their education. Learning math while being taught either online or in a hybrid in-person has created learning gaps that need to be addressed in the upcoming school year.

Daily math review journals will provide a chance for my students to have targeted math practice on key standards that need to be met in order to be successful with 5th grade math.

My hope is that providing each student with their own daily math practice journal will make them excited about learning math and help them take ownership of their own learning and progress towards bridging gaps in their understanding of math.
