My Students

I am a fifth-year teacher working with about seventy-five eighth graders on various reading levels.

My students don't always love to read right when they enter my class at the start of the year, but having diverse titles that cover a variety of topics is always helpful in getting even my most reluctant readers hooked on a book.

My Project

I am always looking for ways to help build up my classroom library. I try to have a big variety of titles in all genres in order to find at least one title that will spark the interest of my most reluctant readers. A lot of times, students will not pick up a book to read on their own, they will wait for me to give a recommendation that is specific to them. So, for this particular project, I picked titles that I know specific students in my class will enjoy.

Being able to add new books to my classroom makes my students feel cared for and appreciated, because often times, my students have never been the one to crack a book open first.

They have only ever had hand-me-downs. And while, a book is a book is a book, I love seeing the light in their eyes when they say, "You got this book just for me?!" Thank you for helping create that light!
