This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
The Samsung earbuds and tablet will provide real-time translation support for my ELL students, allowing them to understand lessons, instructions, and participate fully in classroom activities. The tablet will run translation software, which will bridge the language gap between me and my students. This technology will help students engage with content more confidently, reducing their reliance on peers for understanding and enabling them to express their own thoughts and ideas more effectively.
My goals for this project are to enhance language accessibility in the classroom and promote independent learning for my ELL students.
By providing real-time translation, I aim to help students feel more included in discussions, improve their comprehension, and enable them to complete assignments with greater accuracy and confidence. Ultimately, the project will support academic success and help students develop stronger communication skills.
My students are incredibly diverse, with over 50 ELL learners from various cultural backgrounds. They show resilience and determination in the face of language barriers, working hard to succeed despite the challenges of learning in a new language. Each of my students brings a unique perspective to the classroom, enriching our discussions and fostering a multicultural learning environment. Their desire to succeed, even in a language they are still learning, is inspiring, and I want to ensure they have the tools they need to thrive.
