Brewing To Learn: A Tea Station For Our Sensory Room

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
We are excited to welcome in a new school year. This year we are aiming to enhance the well-being and focus of our Kindergarten through 5th-grade students by creating a calming tea station in our sensory room. This space is essential for students who need a break to regroup and manage their emotions, and we believe a tea station will add a wonderful new dimension to this environment.
In our sensory room we would like to create a cozy and comforting space with a variety of teas (and snacks) that can promote Calm and Focus (the ritual of preparing and drinking tea can help students calm down, reduce anxiety, and improve concentration), support Emotional Regulation (taking a tea break can provide a moment of mindfulness and help students manage their emotions better), encourage Hydration and Wellness (herbal teas are a healthy beverage choice, promoting hydration and offering various health benefits), and most importantly, foster a Sense of Community (sharing tea can create a sense of connection and support among students).
Our Sensory Room is a space loved by our students and school community and we continue trying to enhance the positive atmosphere of the room. Our most important goal is to create a space that is safe, calm, and welcoming to all who enter. We strive to create a peaceful, supportive space where students can thrive both emotionally and academically.
