Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

This project aims to provide students with valuable life skills by integrating financial literacy, communication, and customer service training into a hands-on learning experience. By purchasing life skills books tailored for tweens/teens, along with green aprons and coffee supplies, students will develop practical knowledge while engaging in a fun, interactive activity—running a "Barista for a Day" event.

With technology and social media consuming much of my students' time, I've noticed a higher need for essential life skills going into middle school.

The life skills books will provide guidance on these topics, helping students build confidence in managing responsibilities, handling money, and making informed decisions.

The "Barista for a Day" experience will take learning a step further by allowing students to apply these skills in a real-world setting. Students will take teacher coffee orders, prepare drinks, and serve them professionally. Taking orders, interacting with teachers, and working as a team, reinforcing communication and communication skills. Handling payments (if applicable), understanding costs, and managing inventory will reinforce financial literacy skills. Wearing aprons to create a professional atmosphere, following instructions, and delivering quality service will help students develop workplace readiness skills.

This project will help equip students with knowledge from life skills books that will prepare them for adulthood, provide hands-on job training through a simulated work experience,

build confidence in communication, teamwork, and financial responsibility, and encourage problem-solving and adaptability in a real-world scenario.

My students are hardworking, eager to learn, and full of potential. Many of them thrive with hands-on, real-world experiences that help them connect classroom learning to their future goals. They are kind, determined, and always willing to support one another, making this project a perfect opportunity to foster teamwork, confidence, and essential life skills.
