Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Help my students get involved in physical activity to improve self-esteem, promote health and nutrition.

The Covid-19 pandemic is an unprecedented time all across the world.

The extensive social distancing policies that are in place, have restricted my student's daily activities. These social distancing measures mean that students have fewer opportunities to be physically active.

Physical fitness and exercise help my kids develop important skills such as conflict resolution, cooperation with peers, and social skills such as leadership and fine-tuning motor skills. Healthy behaviors are a positive side effect of exercise while also increasing their social skills necessary for development. Engaging preschoolers on zoom is more important than ever for social bonding.

Help my students participate in group exercises to prevent childhood obesity which has become a problem for youth of all ages. Researchers report students who participate in physical exercise of at least 20 minutes per day on a weekly basis are more likely to demonstrate positive benefits in not only leadership abilities and empathy but also on a deeper level such as increase muscle tone, bone mass, and stamina.

My Project

We are teaching from home at this time. I see my students seating down while on zoom. Children need movement and exercise to thrive and develop. I decided to create a "fitness club" With a few exercise pieces of equipment, my little ones will be encouraged to participate in more physical activity. Once the project gets funded, I will deliver the Yoga Mats and Balance Balls to my students. The mats will help them define their exercise space and the balance balls will help them build balance skills and strengthen abdominal and back muscles.
