This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
Our ceramics and metalsmithing classroom is a vibrant space where students explore their creativity through hands-on projects involving clay, metal, and various specialized machinery and equipment. However, these materials can release harmful dust and fumes, putting students' health at risk. In order to create a safer and healthier environment, we need to install HEPA air filters and ensure we have replacement filters to maintain their effectiveness over time.
HEPA filters are essential for capturing fine particles like ceramic dust, metal shavings, and smoke from torches, which are common in a studio setting.
Without proper filtration, these pollutants can affect both short-term and long-term health, especially respiratory function. By securing high-quality air filters for our classroom, we will reduce the exposure to these harmful particles and create a space where students can work with confidence and peace of mind.
This project will provide ongoing protection for our students, ensuring they can focus on their artistic growth while minimizing health risks. The filters will help maintain a clean, pollutant-free air quality, benefiting both our current and future students and staff who will be working in the classroom.
