My Project

The items I’ve chosen for this project represent my students’ needs in math, reading and mental health. It’s been three years since the COVID lockdowns, but students are still struggling with those basic skills. One of the areas in which they need support is mental health/SEL. This year with floor cushions, they’ll be able to sit more comfortably instead of wiggling and adjusting themselves to the hard floors instead of learning to focus and quiet their bodies. The books requested will be read them together over the first week of school, starting our discussions of some of the best ways to start 3rd grade, easing us back into reading and talking together as a classroom community. The final item, the math game dice, will give students a fun activity to play in small groups while refreshing their addition and subtraction skills and eventually helping them solidify their multiplication and division skills. Each of these items was chosen with students in mind, and the activities they could most use to help them have a successful and focused year of learning.
