My Students

My students are in a team taught kindergarten classroom. That means there are thirty-five students and two teachers all in one room learning together. Our students are five and six years old and are full of life. They come into school every day and are happy to see each other.

Kindergarten is a wonderful grade to be in!

There are so many new and exciting things happening every day.

Our Title I school is located in a small town. It is a wonderful school to be a part of. Students come in and are welcomed by school members who want to help them learn to succeed!

My Project

My kindergarten students love to work together and with hands-on activities. I want to be able to transform my classroom into an educational "Escape Room." This project is for six Breakout EDU kits and access to the Breakout EDU Platform of online games. Breakout EDU kits allow for the facilitation of games where players use teamwork, creativity, problem solving and critical thinking skills to solve a series of challenging clues in order to open one or more locked boxes. The clues are based on literacy and math skills. Each kit can be played with an endless amount of games. There are some on the Breakout EDU website and then we would also be able to create our own version of the game based on student skill sets.

Breakout EDU also allows for students to learn and experience "grit." There are many opportunities for students to succeed and fail.

This will help them learn that it's okay to try again.
