My Students

I teach a group of energetic, determined and thoughtful seventh graders. They are eager to learn and love discussions and debates. As we begin the new year, I want to be able to inspire them to think deeply about events going on in the world today.

I currently teach in a Title One school with over seventy-five percent of students receiving free or reduced price lunch.

Many of my students do not have access to varied and multimedia, nonfiction texts that will help them achieve their full potential. Please help me provide these students with rich informational texts in order to engage their creativity, raise reading levels and create engaging discussions in the classroom.

My Project

This subscription to various Scholastic magazines will help my students become the engaged world leaders of tomorrow. The texts are high-interest and leveled so that no matter a student's ability level, they will be able to participate in discussions and grow academically.

Students will be able to read and learn about current, relevant topics through multiple lens.

With these resources and the reorganization of my nonfiction library, I hope to be able to foster a love of learning and reading. Students will become more comfortable examining the type of nonfiction articles, graphs and images that they will be expected to analyze on state exams and throughout their lives. Students will participate in class discussions, mini-lessons, writing assignments and projects that help build various literacy skills.
