My Students

I teach 12 students in a high school special education classroom. My students are ages 15-20. I work with the same students for the entire school day. We work on all subject areas as well as vocational skills and life skills. I work with students who are on the autism spectrum, have emotional disorders, or have learning and intellectual disabilities.

The diversity in my classroom is what makes me excited to go to work every day.

I work with students of all different abilities and every student is unique. This diversity has allowed my students to learn from one another and it brings about new possibilities and ideas every day. My goal is to help them become more independent and work on getting a successful job after graduation.

My Project

These Breakout EDU kits will help bring the thrill of Escape Rooms to my classroom. My students do well with hands-on learning because of their unique talents and abilities. Using the locks and UV lights will allow them to learn how to work as a team with their fellow classmates to help solve the puzzles while reviewing content. This will help them work on their pre-vocational skills that I emphasize. The platform access lessons will also help me to reinforce content in a student-directed way. The kits will help students be active learners and take initiative for their learning.

Breakout EDU kits will give my students a high-interest and hands-on way to engage with a variety of content.

I am always looking for ways to keep my students interested in the material. The different types of locks will allow for team-building and creative problem-solving which will help my students in their future endeavors. The Breakout EDU platform will give me access to lessons related to all content areas. I can use these lessons to set up interactive puzzles to get my students engaged and learning. Breakout EDU kits will give my students something to be excited about and let them lead their own path to learning.
