My Students

Each year we have more and more students who have families struggling to make it and who often have to move in with relatives after a job loss. Many also come from military families. The students at our school really want to make good choices and we have a staff that is working to help guide students. Our staff continually goes above and beyond to help their students. The school is based on the idea that we are all part of the same team, and we work towards helping all students. Almost 100% of certified staff work as mentors during their personal time to give students who need extra help the attention they need, whether it is an academic or a personal need. We are working hard to make sure our students are prepared for the future. We have added a MakerSpace and are now working to extend our STREAM clubs.

My Project

Our school has embraced the STEAM movement and we want to continue to inspire our students to pursue STEAM activities. Our area is in serious need for graduates with STEAM skills.

Students who start learning concepts at an early age seem to learn better, and it becomes more natural for them.

This window of opportunity is important to provide learning experiences that will challenge and inspire the students.

We are working towards all students being able to code and have STEAM opportunities at their learning level. Botley Robot offers an engaging robot to help this age group relate to the coding concepts. As the students work with Botley, they will learn the basics of coding. It is also unique in that it does not require an iPad or another devise to operate it. This makes it much easier for the younger students to adapt to.

Botley will also be able to be used by our SPED students. We have students with autism and other learning issues that can really benefit from a more simplified coding robot. Often they get left out of activities that are above their abilities.

I am excited to add Botley to our STEAM program. Our STEAM club, MakerSpace, and classrooms will all be able to benefit from these resources. Thank you for your consideration.
