Help me give my students a warm, nurturing environment where they can feel safe to learn including a calming corner with brand new sensory equipment, books to help their social
emotional needs, and new classroom
decor!
I am beginning a new position in a new classroom this year that I am excited to share with my students. I will be the Resource Teacher for Kindergarten, First and Second Grade students with varying exceptionalities.
I am looking to provide my students with a warm, nurturing environment to meet all their needs.
The calming corner will be an area to teach de-escalation skills complete with calming strategies and sensory items. I also included some sensory items like weighted animals, chair bands, stress balls, and calming strips to help students attend and focus on learning and tasks. The stools will be used for my small group instruction table and plastic seats will be used in my reading area. The books I chose are for read alouds to give my students confidence and a “can do” attitude throughout the year!
