Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My school is in Georgia, and our population is mostly minority students of a lower socioeconomic status. My students face a lot of obstacles, but never seem to give up on their dreams.

We are in the process of starting a debate team this year after not having one for over fifteen years. We struggle with obtaining supplies. Although my students work - some to help support their families - they all contribute some to each tournament's entry fees. The school is doing everything it can to help supplement these fees, but I have had to buy most of their supplies myself.

The resources we are requesting are 4 stopwatches and 4 accordion files. These are incredibly important in a debate round. We have already been to 2 tournaments and my students are really excited about continued participation in them. However, they do notice at tournaments that their supplies are not quite as good as their competitors'.

Your help will ensure that my students will be able to continue to participate in an activity which challenges their minds and encourages them to stretch beyond their comfort zones.
