My Project
Reading is an essential skill that opens doors for all students, but it is especially crucial for students with disabilities, including those in self-contained classrooms. For these students, reading can be a powerful tool for building confidence, improving communication, and expanding their world. However, many of these students face challenges with motivation and engagement, making it even more important to provide them with access to high-quality, exciting reading materials. By providing brand-new, age-appropriate book sets, we can spark their interest, encourage their curiosity, and help them develop the literacy skills they need to succeed both academically and in life.
New books are not just a luxury—they are a powerful way to engage students.
The sight of fresh, colorful books that are not worn or tattered can reignite excitement in reading, encouraging students to explore new stories, characters, and ideas. When books are in poor condition, it can detract from the experience, leaving students feeling disconnected from the material. A set of new books not only provides them with up-to-date, engaging content, but also communicates to them that they are valued and deserving of the best resources to support their learning journey. The relevance of brand-new books also ensures that students are accessing literature that reflects current trends and topics, helping them stay connected to the broader world around them.
