My Students

My 'Superior' 5th grade students come to school each and every day ready and eager to learn. The curiosity, joy, and excitement they bring to each and every lesson brings a smile to my face. Many of my students are facing great challenges both personally and academically, but they never let that get them down. They know what it means to be a leader and show everyday through their actions that they won't let obstacles get in the way of them becoming their very best self.

As mentioned, my 100 5th graders demonstrate daily what it means to be a leader.

One way they are becoming leaders is by taking ownership of their learning. In my science and social studies classroom we are always trying to find ways to understand the world around us so that we can explain what we are learning not only to each other, but also to our younger friends on campus. My students know what it means to work hard so that they can achieve the big dreams they have set for themselves.

My Project

BrainPop is a collection of over 1,000 animated videos designed not only to launch my students curiosity, but also help them to clarify complex concepts. With the help of Moby and Tim (BrainPop characters) my students will be able to make sense of the concepts they are learning, have fun, and enjoy a few giggles.

The videos will engage my students and encourage them to continue their learning outside the classroom walls!

Students will also have access to the content at home, helping them to take ownership of their learning from the comfort of their home. Additionally, BrainPop can be utilized for every content area, not just Science and Social Studies, so students can receive help on any subject matter that they find interesting.
