My Students

I have 28 first graders who love to read in English and Spanish. In our school, fifty percent of the students receive free or reduced-price meals. My students have very diverse backgrounds and come together to form a wonderful community.

My first graders enjoy participating in literacy activities and they are eager writers and readers.

They love creating stories in both languages and learning new math concepts. They are eager scientists and they are always interested in learning and sharing their cultures.

My Project

I would like to use BrainPOP Jr. and BrainPOP Español in my lessons. BrainPOP Jr. provides curriculum-based content geared specifically for K-3 students. The site offers a library of movies learning games, interactive quizzes, primary source activities, and concept mapping across six subjects: science, health, writing, reading, social studies, and math. It also provides resources to meet students' different learning styles and abilities.

In a bilingual classroom it is important to have access to multimedia resources to support language development.

BrainPOP and BrainPOP Español can be used to support individual, team, and whole-class learning. It helps to introduce new topics and illustrate complex concepts in English and Spanish.
