My Students

My 2nd grade students are creative, thoughtful, and full of energy. They ask many questions during independent reading time and have a strong love for reading! They absolutely love hands-on activities, engaging in collaborative learning, and learning challenges that allow them to think beyond their means! They are prepared for school each day by being respectful, responsible, and ready to learn. They take brave chances over challenges in order to grow socially, emotionally, and academically each day. Truly, they are my inspiration in wanting to teach in a Title 1 school.

My students enjoy their learning experience and the blended learning programs.

However, they have difficulties completing practice assignments because they lack supplies and resources needed for home and school learning.

My students are compassionate and creative learners who love to learn. They are so helpful in their own way. They keep our classroom so tidy and clean. The best part of being their teacher is that, they enjoy our class time together and we make the best of it! I enjoy teaching such a brilliant group of young learners.

My Project

These tablets, soft pillows, and headphones will enhance our library and the ability for my students to independently read. I strive to create an environment that students love and enjoy. My classroom library is a place where my students enjoy independently reading on the carpet and completing independent work! The soft pillows will allow students to read and engage comfortably. The tablets will allow students to build up their comprehension and phonic skills to become fluent readers. The headphones will help them maintain their focus and avoid distractions. Fifty-three students share and occupy the space daily, six at a time. They are often challenged with locating a comfortable spot or if they will receive time on the blended learning reading program.

My students absolutely love to read and learn, although the method and environment in which they learn best vary greatly.

These materials will allow my students to have their very own carpet spot, headphones, and soft pillow during their independent reading time. Students will be able to choose books or a tablet to enjoy and engage during independent reading time. They will be able to choose books on their reading level and books that interest them. I believe that the best way to increase reading ability is through a variety of learning strategies, small group work, independent and collaborative seating, and a variety of learning options to ensure that all students’ needs are met.

Together, adding technology and comfort to our independent learning time, my students will grow stronger and gain confidence in reading!
