My Project

Students come to school hungry every day. That hunger gets extra noisy when taking tests, and we have officially arrived on testing season. Within the next two and a half months students will be taking PSAT, M-STEP, and NWEA tests. The grade they are in determines how many tests they will take. It may range from two days of testing up to 6-8 days of testing, and I am a resource room teacher supporting grades K-8 with the majority being 6-8th graders.

By donating to my project, you will help give my students full bellies for breakfast and healthy snacks to keep them going throughout their testing days.

A full belly will quiet the hunger noise and allow them to focus on doing their best.

I would like to serve oatmeal for breakfast, which is where the microwave comes in, and then have snacks and juice for later in the day during breaks. The mints are to keep them alert and focused while tests are actually going.

As resource room students, these tests are already intimidating to my students. But they have been working so hard learning so many skills, hunger shouldn't be a reason not to show this growth in these tests! Anything that lasts beyond testing will support students through the remainder of the school year.

As an extra note, I do have some students with special dietary restrictions so there have been special items added to this campaign specifically for those students so they are still included in all special opportunities.
