This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are resilient, hardworking, and optimistic. They arrive to school ready to tackle the day. They are my extended family.

It is fantastic to watch the lightbulb moment on their faces, and then they begin to help one another to learn.

All of our students are from low income households and everyday, many of them ask for a snack to get them through the day.

It is difficult to know that they are hungry and not be able to help.

Not only that, attempting to learn while not having enough to eat everyday is torture. If I could give these kids food everyday, I certainly would.

Help me to nourish their bodies and their minds so they have a bright future.

My Project

These snacks will be used to fuel student learning by helping growing kids get the calories and energy they need to grow AND think.

The students will be able to focus on learning instead of how hungry they are in the classroom.

It is so difficult to focus on school work if their basic needs, such as food and shelter, are not met. By helping to meet at least one of these basic needs and provide some added nourishment, we can help these kids to grow and continue strive for their goals.
