Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Our science lab is a place of challenge and discovery. Students will spend this year learning the foundation of knowledge and skills they will need as they pursue their education.

The students that I have a privilege of teaching range from kindergarten to fifth grade in an urban, inner-city elementary school.

They are excited to explore the world of science, to perform experiments, and to expand their capacity for critical thinking. They take pride in their efforts and are willing to challenge their minds for the sake of learning.

Our student population is 99% minority and over 97% qualify for free or reduced-price lunch. With that being said, I believe that they deserve the best education and every opportunity to be successful in fulfilling their dreams.

My Project

Focusing on positive behavior and giving positive feedback is crucial to help motivate students. They have been out of school since last spring, I need to focus being great students again. I hope that these brag tags will do just that. In order to create these, I will need chains, card stock paper, a paper cutter, and storage containers to help organize all the brag tags. They are small tags that are collected on a lanyard/chain.

Brag tags are an exciting, year round classroom incentive system!

Students will receive brag tags when they have demonstrated content mastery or positive behavior in the classroom. Students can wear their brag tags around the classroom, then displayed on a display board at the end of the class period. They can collect as many as they can through out the year! They can even earn them while learning from home and get their tags when they arrive back on campus.
