Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My Title I, level I (lowest 25%) Specific Learning Disabled (SLD), Emotionally/Behavioral Disabled (EBD) high school students are in ICU! Yes, some students are enrolled in Intensive Reading Plus! More than 90% of the student population qualifies for free and/or reduced-price lunch. Approximately 80% of the students live in single-family homes.

These 9th and 10th-grade remedial readers attend a Title I school.

There is a negative stigma to Intensive Reading or Intensive Reading Plus classes. Some have Individual Education Plans, while others really struggle to remain proficient in English and Math. For these students inclusion into positive worlds will not only help to close the achievement gap but put much needed academic confidence into the hands of students.

My Project

The cheer bows are essential for cheering. My team will be entering local cheer competitions. They will be scored on appearance and cheer bows are necessary. Cheer backpacks are an item that not only identifies the team but adds to positive school spirit.

While teenage stress and mental illnesses are on the rise according to recent research, cheering certainly soothes the soul.

Cheering spreads positive vibes and motivates students. Positive vibes are infectious.

This positivity is needed throughout the school and the school community at large. As simple as cheer bows and cheer backpacks are they will not only improve the cheer team as they perform.
