My Project

Have you ever seen a bubble bounce? I never saw one bounce until I took a science webinar with Steve Spangler. I was amazed and wanted to show my 2nd graders! Well, let me tell you it is amazing to see them bounce bubbles to each other and play catch!

Bouncing bubbles are the coolest science experiment I get to do with my students!

We don't usually do it until the end of the year when we get to move away from our curriculum a bit. The materials that I need for the bubble solution are glycerin, dish soap and water. Each student gets a cotton glove to wear. The glove helps the bubble not to break. The oils on our skin break the bubbles on contact but gloves or clothing don't have the same oils so the bubbles don't break and actually bounce.

The gloves go home with the students at the end of the experiment, as well as a container of bubble solution, and a bubble wand made from a pipette. My students love being able to recreate the experiment at home and show their families. I never thought I would see anyone play catch with a bubble but it's possible! I am also asking for pencils. Pencils are always necessity in our classroom. We go through so many pencils throughout the year.

I love being able to bring fun and interesting experiments into my 2nd grade classroom.
