This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Hi! I have been teaching 5th grade for the past 9 years and was switched the 2016-1017 into 2nd grade. When I moved to a completely new grade after 9 years I purged the old and decided that if I go back it is time to rebuild and start from scratch. Well NOW I'M BACK, teaching 80 students science. I have been working at a K-8 Center which is located in the heart of South Beach!

We tend to use the phrase "Miami is the melting pot of the world," where cultures unite as one.

If I had to describe my class, that would be a perfect description. Not only is my class a blend of different cultures, but also a blend of personalities. I have several students with special needs, as well as students who need a little boost to get them caught up.

My Project

Working with children with special needs, sometimes it is hard to have them stay in their seats for long periods of time. They become fidgety, antsy and can not manage to sit in their chairs. As the day goes on the children tend to randomly stand up and begin walking around to the sharpener, garbage can, or ask if they can go to the bathroom. This does not only become distracting to them but to the other students who are trying to work.

I am requesting yoga ball chairs to help the students who as we say "have ants in their pants" stay focused by having a fun bouncy chair.

If the students need to fidget they can bounce a little. The bouncy ball chairs will also help the students with their balance.
