Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

As an Early Childhood Special Education teacher, the past four years in the classroom have been a wonderful learning experience. I currently teach in a Preschool for All Learners (PAL) classroom setting. In the classroom, there are a total of three adults which include one teacher, two assistants, and a maximum of fifteen students with special needs. The students are 3-5 years of age.

In the past years, the students' disabilities varied from autism, intellectual disability, multiple disabilities, orthopedic impairment, other health impairments, and speech or language impairment, which are some of the disability categories that IDEA covers.

My focus as a preschool special education teacher is to provide my students with quality education in the areas of social-emotional, language, cognitive, physical, literacy, and mathematics development. The children enjoy coming to school every day, and so do I. We look forward to learning in a fun environment!

My Project

The materials I am requesting would be used as resources to help my students learn as they play. The bounce balls are a great way to help students with gross motor skills. The magnetic fishing rods would benefit the students with their fine motor skills. The wooden blocks would encourage students to use cognitive thinking as they build.

In early childhood special education, students love learning with hands-on activities.

My students show enthusiasm when activities are easy and enjoyable to use. For instance, the sequence puzzles and linking cubes can be quick activities that encourage students to use cognitive thinking practices. In addition, the puppet would encourage language and communication amongst peers and adults.

The items requested would be greatly appreciated. These new resources would help facilitate a variety of learning activities for our class.
