My Project

My multicultural students are from impoverished, inner city homes. They do not have access to gardening since they live in crowded apartments. The indoor, hydroponic garden will allow the students to learn about growing leafy vegetables and herbs. It will encourage them to eat more healthy choices, as they will be excited to taste what they worked hard to grow. Hopefully, this will teach them to share these healthy habits with their families, making them lifelong health conscious citizens. Many of the students reminisce about the farms they remember in their countries of origin. Many have extended family living on farms back home in Uzbekistan, Russia, and Central and South American countries.
