This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

I am currently a Special Education teacher at MHHS in the South Bronx. At my school, space is very limited during lunch. We share the building with two different schools, which limits the spaces where students can spend their time during lunch. I run a board game club during lunchtime, aiming to provide students with a relaxing and interactive environment that enhances their overall experience.

Board games, as a tool for mental health, offer a plethora of benefits. They foster social interaction, engage cognitive skills, and provide stress relief.

Students can sharpen their problem-solving skills, find relaxation, and engage in face-to-face interactions by offering a diverse range of board games during my lunch club. This promotes mental well-being and serves as a healthy alternative to excessive cellphone usage.
