My Students

"The beautiful thing about learning is that no one can take it away from you." -B.B. King- This year I am responsible for guiding the literacy development of 80 first grade students. An interactive whiteboard would allow me to fully utilize each moment in the classroom, maximizing student learning.

I am an English Language Arts teacher in a dual language immersion program at an International Baccalaureate School.

My first graders are split into three classes and rotate through my classroom daily. These students have already displayed an excitement for reading and writing. Technology will only increase this enthusiasm and boost their literacy development by making reading and writing even more engaging and collaborative.

My Project

The Promethean Board will be used to engage the students in differentiated literacy activities based on their learning style and level of comprehension. These activities will include storytelling, analyzing mentor texts, practicing handwriting, studying word patterns, editing, and other interactive exercises.

A Promethean Board will allow students to work in collaborative groups while engaging in hands-on, technology-based activities that meet their needs.

Students will develop important communication and problem solving skills, as well as expand their creative thinking with their peers. Having this tool in the classroom will lay a foundation of lifelong learning that will teach the students to not limit themselves in the way they view the world and the means by which knowledge is acquired.
