My Project

I am in my 17th year of teaching at the same school. Although I have taught a wide variety of subjects over the years, every year the majority of my time has been as an English Language Arts teacher. While I have seen changes in our students over the years, many things still remain the same, especially the need to provide relevant and appropriate learning activities for our students

Too often, many middle school students arrive at our school not enjoying reading and writing.

It is my goal as an English teacher to help reverse this mindset. First, I am requesting a wide variety of graphic novels that deal with childhood/teenage experiences, as they can be accessible to students at a variety of reading levels. I am also requesting art supplies to incorporate art integration activities into my lessons to apply to a variety of student learning styles. Lastly, I am requesting stickers and certificates because even at the middle school level students love getting a sticker or an award to commemorate their achievements, whether big or small.
