My Students

"Everyone is a reader, but some just haven't found their favorite book yet." Our class library seems to have lots of books, but in truth, most are old. Students need books that they can relate to (in addition to some classics...), to make them readers for life.

Our students are in an integrated class, with some of the children needing additional support in order to meet the standards.

Some struggle with learning disabilities, language disorders, attentional issues... Others are strong students but have not yet discovered the magic that books hold and think that reading is just another subject in school.

My Project

I am requesting many new chapter books for our class library. With an updated class library brimming with new, contemporary books, even the most reluctant readers can find books that speak to them! They can identify with characters that may be dealing with similar challenges or situations. They can be touched by characters who have had to make choices that impact their lives. They can get addicted to reading by following popular series and discussing them with friends and classmates in book clubs. They will learn that reading is powerful, reading is magic, and books can literally change your life.

This is an opportunity that can impact children's lives.

By donating to this project to fund new books for our class library, you will be enabling children to get hooked on reading. This will propel them to higher reading levels, stronger reading stamina, deeper thinking skills, and foster a love of books. "When we are collecting books, we are collecting happiness."
