Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Providing students with new, relevant and bilingual books is crucial for the success of my classroom. With this order, I have selected books that are relevant to students cultures, traditions and everyday life. I have included books about the posadas in Latin America, EID celebrations, technology of robots, starting a new school and using meditation as a tool for anger.
Providing and sharing books with students that are relatable, beautiful and teach new things supports students in finding their meaning and place within our learning environment.
This offers students the opportunity to practice such important social emotional skills, connect with others and reflect so that they can learn as their best selves.
I have also included some Spanish grade level texts with a classroom set so that I can model reading, offer time for partner and group reading and truly get a book in each students hand. Thank you for supporting students goals towards biliteracy. (Spanish and English) and their JOY of reading!
