Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My wonderful second graders love reading - especially graphic novels, superhero books and joke books. They are caring, creative and hard-working. They are eager to fluently add and subtract. They love conducting science experiments Their eyes light up when they are engaged in learning experiences.

Please, help make our classroom into the organized and supportive learning environment my students so desperately need.

For many of my students, the classroom is a place to escape into a nurturing, supportive environment. Almost all of them come from low income households. Many of them have experienced trauma in their lives and have difficulty coming to school. Once they are in the classroom we work as hard as possible to create a nurturing space that will help them live up to their potential and be happy, healthy and successful.

My Project

My girls are smart, strong, and ready to lead the world. They crave books that will inspire them to reach their potential. Books with strong female characters show them that they can do anything they put their minds to.

My students deserve books that help them feel confident and valuable, with characters that reflect them.

I am requesting copies of twenty-seven individual titles and one set of the Lunch Lady series. Katie Woo, Pinkalicous, Sofia Martinez, Fancy Nancy and Lunch Lady are spunky, creative, kind, tenacious girls and women - just like my students. They love these characters and feel so connected to them. We have a few of these books in our current classroom library and they just can't put them down. I know these books will help my students grow into confident readers and confident women.
