My Students

My students come from a variety of backgrounds and many face struggles and challenges on a daily basis. Included in their daily challenges are often times financial struggles. All of my students receive free breakfast and lunch every school day. My goal is to make the classroom a fun and welcoming environment where they can learn and grow regardless of what goes on outside of school. Even with what these kids face on a daily basis, they come to school with a positive outlook and a love for learning!

With the income restrictions placed on some of the families that I serve, many of my students do not have access to supplies to help them thrive.

My kids love to play, read, move, and everything else that your average elementary student does in a day. I cannot control what goes on outside of my classroom, but I take pride in what goes on inside of it. I want to make sure that my students strive and that they have what they need to be successful and continue their love of learning.

My Project

My students are learning to love reading! As they are beginning to come back to school 4 days per week, I want to make sure that my classroom library is stocked with books that they can relate to, be inspired by, or simply enjoy reading.

I want to update my classroom library to get some new books into my students' hands.

I am doing this project to add new titles to my classroom library. These books will be available for my students to check out to read both at home or in the classroom. Some of these are new stories and some are new books from a series that we already have part of! I am also excited because many of these books feature characters of minority demographics. I am hopeful that my students will enjoy reading these books because they will be able to see themselves in these books and be able to relate to these characters.
