My Project

"Everyone's going to remember where they were when the taps went dry," is the opening line of the book sleeve blurb of Neal and Jarrod Shusterman's novel "Dry." I’ve been thinking a lot about the state of the environment lately, and I came across this book that I believe would really help deepen my students' understanding of the issues and make for some amazing discussions. "Dry" by Neal and Jarrod Shusterman is a gripping novel set in a world where water has become scarce due to a climate disaster. The Shustermans have dedicated this book "to all those struggling to undo the disastrous effects of climate change."

"Dry" really brings to light the importance of sustainable water use, the impact of climate change, and how fragile our resources are.

I think reading this book would not only be an eye-opening experience but also spark some meaningful conversations about the environment. It’s a powerful reminder of how urgent the climate crisis is, and I would love to have the chance to dive into it. It would be a perfect way to combine entertainment with raising awareness on critical environmental issues. These books would be used by our book club, classroom teachers for class reads, and any student who just wants to check it out to read independently.
