My Students

I am a kindergarten teacher who teaches 22 curious, enthusiastic students. My students represent a variety of cultural, linguistic, and socioeconomic backgrounds. My school gets very little funding from the district, and almost everything for our classroom is funded by kind parents, generous donors, and me.

My amazing students love learning!

They enjoy participating in science, math, writing, reading, engineering, and art activities because they have fun and feel successful. When activities are engaging, hands-on, and meaningful, my students get captivated in learning and everybody wins.

My Project

In my classroom, along with teaching the academic curriculum, I incorporate social and emotional learning into the curriculum. This helps my students build emotional intelligence, develop a growth mindset, and set and achieve goals in the classroom. Through these books, my students will learn that being a perfectionist is not ideal and making mistakes is part of life and provides opportunities to learn.

Students’ mindsets about their abilities shape their responses to challenges in school and life.

They need to understand they can get smarter when they work hard, use effective strategies, and get help when needed. The books focusing on growth mindset will build this confidence in my students as well.

Making responsible decisions, feeling and showing empathy for others, understanding and managing emotions, and maintaining positive relationships are important social-emotional skills that I want to instill in my students. These books will be a perfect tool to help me build these critical skills in my students.
