My Project

Our district has chosen to focus on recognizing students who are biliterate and give the awards and medals for their accomplishments. This has been an AMAZING focus and we feel it is a great opportunity for our students who are bilingual. Research shows that bilingual people have expanded job opportunities with higher pay, maintain stronger family and community connections, have a stronger sense of self, and have improved capacity to resolve problems and overcome obstacles.

But where are these children going to get these books to read?

As one of the requirements to receiving the Pathway to Bilingualism and Biliteracy award, children are asked to read books in a second language.

The main languages represented in our school are Spanish, Armenian, Russian, Chinese, and Farsi. I have chosen some children's books for them to read to meet the requirement. Please give my students these books to allow them to reach one of the milestones they need to reach biliteracy by their senior year in high school. Being bilingual is a gift and need our children to know that!
