My Students

I am a Speech-Language Pathologist working with special needs students in diverse school. My students come from a variety of backgrounds and have a variety of special needs. They have disabilities ranging from developmental delays, to autism, to intellectual disabilities. All of my students have goals in many different areas and at many different levels.

My students are working to build skills in language, functional communication, speech sound production, and fluency.

Working with such a diverse population I need to have many different options to help them all stay engaged and make great gains.

My Project

There are so many wonderful books and I want to provide my students access to these rich language activities as well as digital materials to support their learning, understanding, and growing their language skills. By reading them a variety of books they will gain a better knowledge base for learning vocabulary and parts of a story. Listening to and participating in great storytelling widens their imagination and will help them for life. My students are of all ages and the digital activities included will help them with learning many different concepts and these will be able to be adapted for all levels! Many of my children have delays in several different areas and reading and applying concepts to their own life help them to not only learn about opportunities they may not get to experience in person, but help them put words to those that they have experienced.
