Our diverse school serves students from every zip code in Oakland and more! We are a TK-8, Spanish Dual Immersion school located in East Oakland. We are an Expeditionary Learning School where our curriculum is created by our staff to deepen understanding, create maximum engagement, make learning more meaningful, and have a final product at the end of every expedition.
In addition, we implement Restorative Justice Practices with our students, teachers and families, and establish a positive school climate.
In the end, our goal is to build a community where we can help educate bilingual, bi-literate students who will be empathetic, articulate, open minded and promote social justice.
My Project
My goal this year is to transform our old and outdated classroom library. I've had the same books for quite some time after teaching for over 10 years. My students are in major need of new books to add to our small library.
Your donation will help create a brand new library where students will be able to take books home weekly.
Part of our homework routine includes students checking out 5 books from our classroom library, ensuring they have access to appropriate grade level texts. Most of the books I have selected go with our expedition units and also give students exposure to diversity and acceptance of all. The new books will get the kids so excited to read! We thank you in advance for your support.
